DIY No-Carve Pumpkins
(Note: this tutorial was created before I had this blog. So the text instructions will not be as in-depth for any posts created before September 30, 2018.)
Halloween has to be my favorite time of year. So I can’t pass up a chance to DIY some decorations. I decided to DIY 3 pumpkins, two of which could be done using a real pumpkin, the velvet one cannot.
The video tutorial is right below and underneath that you’ll find the supplies and text instructions!
DIY Studded Pumpkin
Supplies:
Foam pumpkin (or real one if you wish) - mine came from Dollar Tree, but here’s something similar: http://bit.ly/2hHn8SV
Silver studs - http://bit.ly/2hHAhLI
Silver Glitter - http://bit.ly/2xFWLmd
Mod podge or Elmer’s glue - http://bit.ly/2ic7Adw
Black paint
2 Paint brushes
Instructions:
Paint the pumpkin black
After the paint dries, apply modge podge or glue to the stem and then sprinkle the glitter on it to cover it.
Stick the studs directly into the pumpkin. (if they’re having trouble sticking, a little hot glue should do the trick)
DIY Glitter Lace Pumpkin
Supplies:
Foam pumpkin (or real one if you wish) - http://bit.ly/2gaUUQ0
Modge podge or Elmer’s glue - http://bit.ly/2ic7Adw
Orange glitter - http://bit.ly/2xFWLmd
¾ yd Black lace - http://bit.ly/2zpkRnu
Orange paint (optional)
Hot glue
Scissors
Instructions:
Since my pumpkin was white, i decided i wanted to paint it orange to get a base color. Skip this step if your pumpkin is already orange.
Cover the pumpkin with modge podge and then with the glitter. Let it dry completely.
Then, go over the entire pumpkin with the modge podge to seal it. Let that dry as well.
Set the pumpkin on the lace and cut a large circle around it
Find the middle of the circle, and snip it. Slide the stem through the hole, secure with hot glue if necessary.
Wrap the lace around to the bottom of the pumpkin and secure with hot glue. Trim the lace as necessary, as you want to keep the bottom as flat as possible
DIY Velvet Pumpkin
Supplies:
½ yd quilt batting - http://bit.ly/2yM7Lnb
¾ yd velvet - http://bit.ly/2yj9rUo
Small circular wood plaque - http://bit.ly/2yoKq9T
Stick for a stem
String
Hot glue
Scissors
Instructions:
Start by folding the batting in half and loosely rolling it up. Secure the ends with glue if necessary
Take the string and wrap it around the batting roll so it’s divided into fourths and tie it.
Take the wood plaque and insert it under the string on the bottom. This is so it will sit balanced on any surface.
Apply a large amount of glue to the center of the pumpkin and attach the stem.
Cut a loose circle on your velvet.
Attach the velvet to the batting roll. Start by securing it tightly along the lines of the sting. Then slowly work your way toward the middle on each side
Hot glue the stem into the center of the pumpkin
