As a millennial stepping out into the real world after college graduation in 2017, I realized just how expensive it is to design and decorate your dream home (OK, apartment, let’s be real here) with the latest trends when your’re on a tight budget. So, I decided to use my love of DIYing to help you craft your dream life.
With this goal in mind, I first started my YouTube channel, Actually Alli DIY (if you haven’t found me there yet, hop on over and say hi!). This blog is an extension of my channel, where I’ll share free printables to accompany DIYs, the supplies you’ll need and in-depth tutorials for each project.
✦ a little bit about alli ✦
Hi everyone, I’m Alli! I’m a 20-something just trying to balance full-time work life with full-time creative life. I have a degree in journalism, and a passion for all things creative.
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite part about DIYing. I love it all, from brainstorming new ideas, to the problem solving of making that idea into reality, to seeing the finished piece in my apartment and saying “I made that!” whenever someone asks. I also love that sense of accomplishment of recreating a high-end decor piece for a fraction of the cost.
A few fun facts:
✦ I have been crafting for as long as I can remember and I received my first hot glue gun and sewing machine at age 11.
✦ The wood sunburst mirror you see in my photo is my favorite DIY I’ve made so far.
✦ I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but I have also lived in Ohio and Minnesota. I’ve lived in four different cities since 2017.
✦ My favorite books are the Harry Potter series. My favorite bands are Fall Out Boy and Waterparks. My favorite movie is Finding Nemo. My favorite food group is dessert. My favorite color is purple.
